This past weekend Todd, Em, and I packed up the car and headed to Todd's home town for his 10 year reunion (yes I am older than him) and Bridgeport Days. There were ups and downs to the weekend---some good times and some not so good times, but I am going to focus on the fun times that Emersyn had. Wouldn't it be great to enjoy everything like a 2 year old???
Anyway....first on the fun train was a parade. What kid does not like a parade??? Em LOVED it. She got to hang out with 2 of her cousins (and new best friends), Charleah and Devyn, and get candy Candy CANDY!!! BTW I bought Em's shoes at a yard sale a few months back and kinda forgot about them. Then I remembered to get them out (now that she will be outgrowing them soon) and she has been wearing them. I think they are so cute, but it made me laugh because in the pictures her feet look JUMBO. Does it not look like she has clown feet??? Not sure what that is about???
This is MY view of the parade--my kid did not leave the middle of the road for ANYTHING. She grabbed arms full of candy--ran to me---dumped her candy in the bag---and ran back. THEN REPEAT A MILLION TIMES. At one point, her mind was SOOO focused on candy that she was about 2 feet from running in front of a moving fire engine. Talk about a heart attack---on my part that is. She still has no idea how close she came to---well I can't even think about it. All she was concerned with was that she got that LAST darn piece of candy:)
And a balloon.
Don't even think about touching said balloon!!!
And the sad yet perplexed face of a child whose balloon has just blown up to balloon heaven. All day she talked about her balloon blowing away. And even the next day when she saw an airplane she told me that the airplane was in the sky...with her balloon.
Todd also had his reunion. FYI--he had just played in a softball tournament---thus the beautiful ensemble. Anyway....this is the only picture I got there because...well lets face it---it was not about me. I think Todd had fun seeing his old friends and it was fun for me to meet people and put faces to names. This is Todd's buddy Ben and his son Ryder. Ryder is only 10 days older than Emersyn (and yep his face is painted like a kitty).
Todd also played in a softball tournament. He had 6 games in total, so it was less than thrilling for Em and I, but for the first game---or maybe the first 2, Em still thought it was kinda fun. I love that this mit (not sure whose it is) is almost as big as she is:) She put it on and thought she would run out on the field and "help daddy." Trust me I had to run out and grab her out of the outfield more than once.
AND this is the face of a kid who has had too many late nights, too much fun and candy, and TOO many softball games. I have never seen the poor girl so tired. Too bad for her that we drove straight from Bridgeport to Pasco and went to my cousin Austin's graduation party. AND too bad for ME that this sweet little nap only lasted about 30 minutes!!! Even if it was not amonst my top 10 favorite trips, Emersyn had a little baby girl blast!!! I guess we should ALL go on vacation and just party like a 2 year old!!!
