Simple Pleasures

I have been thinking a lot the last few days about how nice it would be to be a kid again.  To find joy in the simple things and to not sweat the small stuff.  Emersyn can find fun and happiness in just about any activity she happens to find.  Lately I have stopped to really enjoy these simple little pleasures with her and enjoy the fun that it is just to watch her grow up.
Tea parties---she cannot get enough of it.  She can set up an impromptu tea party just about anywhere.  The other day I opened the shower curtain and there she was.  Standing outside the shower with a litte tea party set up on the bathroom floor.  DRINK--she commanded.  How can you argue with a kid who wants a naked tea party????  Now it seems that no matter where I go--sewing room, laundry room, kitchen, this sweet little party follows me there.  Everywhere I turn there is a little cake and cup of tea just waiting for me.  I think maybe the British are on to something with this tea thing, because it really does make me feel better.
Playing Dress Up--Emersyn spends many hours each week attempting to dress AND undress herself.  Although it makes a mess and usually ends with a naked kid and a pile of dirty/clean clothes, it almost always makes me laugh.  Emersyn's new favorite gal to dress is her magnet doll.  I helped her to dress and undress her for about an hour the other day (while watching Scarlett and Rhett fight it out on top of the stairs) and remembered how much I LOVED playing with my dolls when I was little.  Then I threw in the towel and went to start dinner.  When I came back to see how things were going I found this little gem.  Poor girl doesn't match, she is a bit immodest with her undershirt showing, and her shoes---SO CLOSE!!!  But darn it--she has a bow in her hair and a style of her own.  Beyond that.....Em was so proud of her that I almost couldn't bear to take her apart to put her away.

Piggie Bank---Em has realized the power of money.  I showed her how to put money into her piggy bank and she couldn't get enough.  MOH MONEY!!!!--(translation...more money)  She ran from room to room in search of lost change to feed to her piggy.  Thank goodness Sesame Street came on to distract her because I was OUT of money.  She even got the sticky old money from out of the ashtray of my car.  I think she got her saving skills from her daddy because I would have been trying to trade my change for chocolate instead of putting it away for safe keeping---some things never change.

I have many things that I enjoy doing, but I realize that none of them are as wonderful as a cup of tea with my girl.  MY SIMPLE PLEASURE....footie pajamas, fly-away baby hair, and the fact that no matter how many pictures of Emersyn I take----SHE ALWAYS WANTS A CLOSE UP:)

She is such a cutie! I enjoyed this post. I have often thought about this as well. Especially lately, while waiting for our lil Angel to come. Seeing these pictures makes me even more excited! You're a great Mom Jessica. Hugs!

So true! Can you believe how fast it's gone??? We really do need to enjoy every single day...even the ones where they "accidentally" throw their food on the floor and then throw themselves on the floor when you ask them to pick it up. :)
