Well Worth The Wait!!

Well--after months of waiting, Emersyn finally arrived. She showed us her stubborn little personality right from the start. I will give you a very shortened version of a VERY long story. My water broke during the night, so on Sunday morning Todd and I went to the hospital early Sunday morning. I was not dilated (only to 1 cent) so we ended up waiting and waiting and taking medicine to speed things up a bit. During the waiting, it was determined that I could not have an epidural because I had a problem with my blood counts. So I decided to have some transfusions so that I could get the epidural after all. So there was some more waiting for the transfusions and stuff, and finally I got an epidural and things started to progress. I finally dilated at about 12 am and started pushing. Things were great, but then after about 3 hours she stopped coming. SHE WAS STUCK!! The doctors said that I could try pusing again without an epidural and see if that helped, so they shut off the drugs. I waited about an hour and pushed about another hour. She just wasn't coming, and the doctors determined that she just wasn't going to fit. So after all of that, we decided to proceed with a C-section.

Emersyn arrived at 6:17 am on Monday morning. She weighed in at 9 pounds 6 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long. She is beautiful and perfect. She was taken to the NICU for a little while because of the surgery and because her blood sugar was a little low, but she had no problems. Again I had to wait though. I didn't get to see her for a few hours, but FINALLY after 24 hours at the hospital, I got to meet her for the first time. She was well worth waiting for. She has big eyes and freakishly long eye lashes. As they were stitching me up and cleaning her up all of the nurses kept talking about were her long eye lashes. I was a little jealous of the nurses and that they got to see her and I got to lay there all by myself on the operating table. But once I saw her I forgot all of the bad stuff and just enjoyed her cute chubby little smile.

We were both pretty worn out after our busy night:

She wanted a little rest and was not quite ready for a photo shoot:)
We are both doing great. We came home Wednesday night and are enjoying our time together getting to know each other. Sorry it took so long to post!! This surgery thing was a little harder to bounce back from than I thought. Although she didn't arrive the way I had hoped, I am perfectly happy with my sweet little girl. I am sure I will have more pictures up soon. Thanks everyone for your support and love!!

Oh man do our labor stories sound similar. I'm so glad that she arrived safe and sound, and holy cow a 9-1/2 pound baby! JESS, how did YOU have that size baby? I'm impressed.

Okay, so dumb me, SHE'S GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad you're home safe and sound, and I hope that you're starting to feel better all the time. Take it easy. Enjoy your time with your wee one. Let everyone pamper you! My favorite thing after McKay was born when a few of my friends told me to continue taking the pain meds for as long as I needed. They reminded me that no one expects miracles. So that's my advice.

Oh, seeing your baby is making me a little jealous, I will admit! She's darling!
