Hello All!! I hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was interesting to say the least. Emersyn has started getting into EVERYTHING at our house and is constantly keeping me on my toes. I tend to let her get away with too much as long as I am able to get anything done, so while I was getting ready the other morning, I allowed Emersyn free access to my bathroom cupboard. She has always loved to play with pads and tampons for some reason, but she hit the jackpot this time and found a Costco size box under the sink. As you can see she was pretty proud of herself. She was literally throwing handsfull of tampons up into the air and letting them rain down on her--she wont love them so much in a few years!!
We had a little snow this weekend and my Atty Baby really wanted to go out and play. When I opened the door she was not so sure, but finally decided to brave it and head out into the snow. I think her occasional bravery is funny--she wont let people near her, but she will go outside in the freezing cold and let the snow fall on her????
Another of Emersyn's newest adventures lead her into the cat's room. She loves to chase Atty around and they happened to end up in the office (Atty's room--where the litter box is). I could hear her crawling around, but was looking through the desk for something when it got TOO quiet. You all know what that means. Kids and quiet mean TROUBLE. And trouble is what I found when I turned to look. She had reached her hand through the sliding closet door and grabbed right into---yep you guessed it--the litter box. What I saw was my beautiful little princess with two hands full of cat poo. I jumped up and screamed for her to stop--bad idea. She knew I was going to take it away and although she did not know what she had, she knew she didn't want me to take it. So as quick as she could, she shoved as much cat poo as she could into her mouth (I KNOW---YUCK!!). I grabbed her and cleaned her and cleaned her and cleaned her--even cleaning in her mouth with baby wipes. I never imagined I would have to clean cat poop and kitty litter off of my baby's face--I have never been so glad that I don't have a sense of smell. How gross huh??? When you see her all dressed in her Sunday dress it is hard to believe she eats cat poop huh?
Marcie wanted a look at my current craft projects, so here they are--although they will probably bore you and make you think I should keep practicing:)
Here is a baby quilt that I made for my cousin.
I loved the fabric on the back. I think it is sooooo cute and girlie--no chance this is for a boy:) I made another one for an ex-student of mine, but without the border--I didn't want it to be sooo big--plus the border was a bit of a hassle. I thought it was still cute without it.
I think what Marcie wanted to see was the embroidery I have been working on, but I hate to tell you that it is not that exciting. I got the pattern and could not wait to find fabric or anything, so I just grabbed a pillowcase from the drawer and started practicing. I did have fun though and will keep doing it--although I need to get some new fabric to work on. I changed the colors to match our bedroom--bluish/green and brown/gray.

They kinda look like amoeba or something, but I think they are supposed to be paisley.

Marcie I am so glad that we got to see you. Call anytime you need a shopping buddy. Even if you are just coming to walmart to buy tampons and tortilla chips. Emersyn loves tampons:)

Today I also started working on a tablerunner that I bought when Amy and I took a very spendy trip to craft warehouse. I still need some backing and to bind it, but I can only do so much in one day. By the way on the trip to craft warehouse my daughter ate half of the package that this pattern came in (which is why I had to buy it). She also tore up and chewed on a spool of embroidery thread (also bought it). AND somehow she snuck an embroidery hoop into the basket (which I also had to buy). It was snack time I guess, but I wish she would ruin less expensive items:) On that note, her first tooth has finally broken through the skin. I know she is almost 9 months old, but this is her VERYfirst and it has been trying to come for a while now. To make things more exciting, she slept in her crib last night until 3 this morning--for those of you with kids who sleep, this is not big news, but for us it is a MIRACLE. Maybe this tooth coming in is going to let us get a half a nights sleep again. She also napped IN HER CRIB today. I know some of you have kids who do this on a regular basis, but NOT US. She had a cold for a month which just made matters worse because She could not lay flat. So baby steps for us, but finally I have a use for the crib--besides holding clean clothes:) All of this sleeping and being a good baby more than made up for our POOPY day:)

Wow, Jes, you are getting pretty crafty. The table runner is cute!
I think I have a picture of everyone of my kids in the bathroom with tampons all over the floor:) And as for cat poop in the mouth....*gag*.........you and that cat of yours:)
Oh my gosh - I do not get grossed out easily, but the cat litter story grossed me out. Oh Emersyn...if you only knew. :) I love your craft projects - you have been busy! I love the table runner - and you are brave to use triangles. I tried and failed miserably. AND - I love getting to see you guys too...let's do it again! Are you sure you can't come this weekend??
This was hilarious. I love the tampon pic and the kitty poo story!!! It is so funny. What cousin is that for? You are a good sewer!!!
you ARE boycotting the retreat! I'm jealous that I can't craft with the experts - I'm sure the chatter will be a lot more entertaining at your craft day. and - can you teach me to bind? I do not know how to do that...
If you come to see Erika, will you let me know and maybe I could go with you?!
Happy 9 months Emersyn !!
You are such a funny little girl. : )
Love you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
