Is this where that goes???

Do you not keep the crayons under the bed??? Well apparently we do. I told Emersyn to put her crayons and play-doh away. Then I went to take a shower. When I came out, Emersyn was nowhere to be found, but she had put her things away nicely. Crayons under the bed and play-doh on the bed---is that not where you keep them?? I could not even complain because she had done such a good job--even if she wasn't exactly on track:) She cracks me up!!!

On the crafting front it has been a bit of a slow week. I have been working on baby stuff. I AM NOT PREGNANT---but pretty much everyone I know is, so I decided to try my hand at a few tutorials I found. First, I found a tutorial on Piece N Quilt for Self Binding Receiving Blankets. On her blog they looked so easy and cute. Marcie and I have tried to figure out the pattern for a few months now and I finally got it figured out--on my second attempt. Her tutorial is good if you know what you are doing--but I didn't. When I get some more flannel I think I will post a Tutorial for Dummies--like me. I think anyone could make them and they are super cute and pretty easy to make. You should go look at her examples though at Piece N Quilt because they are WAY cuter than mine.

My other baby project (I repeat NOT FOR ME!!) was some burp cloths. They are way cute raggy edged burp cloths and the tutorial is over here at Homemade By Jill. She has many cute and easy craft projects. I used her template for the bigger size and then did my own thing to make the smaller version. If you use her tutorial, it works great--I did use a zig zag stitch and other decorative stitches instead of just a straight stitch. Other than that her directions are Easy!!

Final count--1 receiving blanket and 7 burp clothes. The fabric for the burp cloths was actually from my first attempt at the receiving blanket--OOPS!!

This fabric does not have a purpose yet, but I think it is super cute. I got the idea from another blog (of course). They were in a 4 pack of Carters receiving blankets. They were 60% off at Kohls--making them about $10.00. They are a little more than a yard of fabric---meaning it comes out to about 2.20 a yardISH!!! That is a pretty smokin' deal on cute coordinating fabrics. I see burp cloths and blankets and bibs in their future:)

Jessica, sorry I was blog hopping I think Amy or Marcie and saw this! I love all your guys' sewing stuff just wish I had time and energy! I make those same birp cloths but I just do a square since I could never get the bean shape right! And I made a big pattern which is really fun and put quilt batting in between and a snap instead of velcro! Everyone loves them because they go on the side and not behind the neck! I love new ideas! I might steal some of your except quilting...that could be ugly!
