Todd's first blanket

I got an email from our church humanitarian leader about Project Linus.  They are a group that collects homemade blankets and distributes them to people in need.  They are collecting blankets right now for Haitian children, which really caught my attention.  I have wanted to do something to help Haiti, but never really got a hold of a good idea.  Then this email popped along and I was thrilled.  They want new home made blankets in any shape, size, color, or style.  SOOOO I grabbed a JoAnn's coupon and headed out in search of fleece.  Then for family night Todd, Em and I snipped and tied (actually Em colored and cheered us on).  It took NO TIME AT ALL and even Todd was impressed.  At first when I told him the idea, he looked at me like I was nuts to think he could make a blanket--but when it was finished he said "huh?? I didn't know it would be so easy--I made a blanket!!"
Here is our finshed project.  If you look close you can see tonight's project--under the table in my to-do basket (notice it is heaping full).  We are going to make another blankie--this time girlie pink polka dots with monkeys--Em picked it out.
If you are interested in helping out in this cause, I can send you the whole email with ALL of the info.  They are always in need of blankets, but are only collecting for Haiti until March 1st.  Anyone can make a little fleece blankie for Haiti  (if Todd can)!!!  I also looked at the local website for Project Linus Tri-Cities and they have groups that get together to quilt/sew/cut fleece to make blankets.  They meet at all of the local quilt stores, the Richland Public Library, and Battelle Labs.  So if you wanna help, check out their website and grab a schedule--they even have fabric you can use if you don't have the means to buy fabric.   OHHH and if you live in Tri-Cities, no worries.  Go to the National Project Linus site and they have local links for ALL of the chapters ALL over the country.  No excuses blog friends--let's help out the children in need!!!!

NOW off my soap box, what have we been up too????  Todd went out of town for a few days to buy some cars and Em and I tried to stay sane while he was gone.  I got to give her a bath (usually her dad's job) and we had a good ole' time.

She drank gallons of water, gave her baby drinks, played and played, and got away with all of the things her daddy doesn't let her do--apparently he doesn't allow her to eat Elmo Soap--Who Knew????  We were both SUPER glad to have him back.  Em because she missed her dad and was sick at looking and listening to me ALL DAY and ME because I needed HELP!!!  A shout out here to single moms--I admire your ability to cope---I am not strong enough.  One more hour with just me and Em and survival of the fittest would have started to kick in--not sure which of us would have made it!!!!
Em really enjoyed Valentine's Day.  I think she got more presents than most kids do on Chrismas, but oh well--spoiled works for her:)  This is the scoop shovel method of eating a valentine cookie--Emersyn perfected it all on her own!!!!  I currently feel like a pile of Chocolate Mush from all of the candy and cookies I ate this week.  Seriously GROSS, but worth it too!!!!  Todd and I went out to PF Changs with some friends from church and then headed to a Valentine's Dance.  The dance was fun and lame at the same time, so we pretty much sat around and talked to Brock and Emily---that was the fun part, not the lame part!!  I have been working on some sewing projects too, check back soon because I am planning on having a giveaway---YEP free stuff!!!  Don't miss out!!

What a good idea for family home evening. Todd looked like he was having a good time too. Josh is the sewer in our family so he would probably really enjoy something like this. I agree with feeling like chocolate mush. I think I gained a little more weight than I should of but its for the baby right? :) I am having my diabetes test soon and am scared they are going to say I have it. So I have a couple of weeks to really live it up and enjoy my sugars! :)

Emersyn's way of eating cookies is the perfect solution. Probably less of a mess than how my kids eat their cookies. :)
