Happy Birthday America!!!

We had a super fun and SUPER busy 4th of July this year.  The kids went NON-stop all day and had fun from the moment they got up in the morning!!
I started off my morning with my 2nd EVER 5k.  It felt pretty great to be running for such a good cause.  Camp Patriot is an organization that provides outdoor adventure activities for disabled veterans.  I always wish there was something I could do to support the troops...and now I have in my own little way!!
It was a fun low key run...I got to follow behind these fun girls:)
I met my goal and beat my LAST 5k time of 35 minutes.  I finished in 32:26.  Not an award winning time or anything, but an accomplishment for this 30 plus non running momma..haha!!

After running, we headed off to the Pasco 4th of July parade with Marilee and Kevin.  Ethan was hard to photograph...he was too busy looking all over for candy!!
Excuse me...has anyone seen my baby boy???  It seems that this big boy has stolen him!!!  Does he NOT look all grown up???
After the parade, we headed home for our annual Perkins 4th of July Par-Tay!!  Somehow I managed to hang out with all of my friends and NOT take any pictures...OOPS!!!  We had the Jacksons, the Wieselers, The Waters, Aunt Janet, Mom, Dad, Marilee and Kevin all over for LOTS of food and TONS of little girl screams.  The little girls played LOTS of dress up and were their usual princess selves.  The little boys ran around and hit things and ate chips and olives...typical kiddos.

Since the 4th selfishly landed on a weeknight, many of our friends headed home early.  The die -hards who stuck around though got to enjoy some yummy delicious S'mores!!
Although my dad (who is about as patient as the kids) started off lighting up sparklers around 5 o'clock, we still had PLENTY of fireworks to enjoy after dark. Jenny had left to go home, so Dad and Creete were in charge of the fireworks---SERIOUSLY TERRIFYING!!!  I really do not think those two should be allowed to play together..haha!!

Emersyn was finally NOT too terrified to hold the sparklers!!  It is not EVERY day you get to enjoy watching a PRINCESS (she did not want to take off her dress up clothes) lighting off fireworks:)
Ethan, who was not to be trusted around fire, got to play with his glow-sticks.
Emersyn and I found something NEW this year...GLOW IN THE DARK BALLOONS!!!  They kinda just look like regular ballons in the picture, but they were WAY cooler than that...because ANYTHING that glows in the dark is pretty amazing!!
Em entertained us with a little ONE DIRECTION and showed us her moves.  Ethan finally pooped out about half way through the fireworks....poor tired baby!!
Creete REALLY enjoyed his s'mores.  Grandma Judy would not let him into her car until he was scrubbed down a bit.  THAT is a sign of a good treat:)  I imagine she REALLY scrubbed him down before letting him into her bed...
All in all it was a fun, low key, food filled day with family and friends.  NOW today I am looking forward to a day in our pajamas and some LONG naps!!!
