Mitt Romney and Flying Books

Kids are funny.  They just never stop amazing me. I have two kids...two VERY DIFFERENT KIDS.  They both grew inside for 9 months, were born happy and healthy, and then one turned into a princess and one turned into a pirate....how does that happen???  I mean take the library for example...today I took BOTH kids to the library.  Emersyn went in, picked out a stack of books half as tall as her, and then sat down at the table to quietly read.  Ethan on the other hand ran at full speed from the moment I released him from his stroller and NEVER looked back.  He pushed a 7 year old girl away from her computer and then proceeded to pound the mouse against the monitor as loud as possible.  Then when I got ALMOST close enough to grab him...he took off again.  Clearing shelves of movies and books faster than a tornado.  I finally caught up with him at the opposite end of the library (the part I did not know existed until today).  Then he looked me right in the eyes and started pummelling me with a rain storm of books.  I grabbed him, sludged back throgh the library trying to right chairs and retrieve a trail of books along the way.  We returned back to the kid's section only to find Emersyn...STILL QUIETLY SITTING AND READING A BOOK!!!  How exactly can two creatures, created of almost identical DNA turn into ENTIRELY different species???  Hmmm...life's eternal questions...Clearly I love them BOTH, but today kid 1 for SURE won NICE KID points.  Especially when I was dragging kid 2 back to the stroller kicking and screaming and kid 1 asked if we could stay just a bit longer because she had not had time to read ALL the books at the library yet...
Although they are clearly different as night and day...they are both learning so much all the time.  Ethan learns in his quiet way.  He rarely speaks, but understands EVERYTHING.  I imagine he is just taking it all in and perfecting himself...when he does finally talk I will not be surprised if it is in full sentences:)  Today he rocked our world by using a new word.  We were reading stories before nap time and he pointed to the cat and said MEOW MEOW!!  Me and Emersyn were so excited we both started laughing and high fiving him.  He then got so excited that her ran in circles and laughed and screamed.  Then he repeated Meow meow a few more times and gave LOTS of high fives.  THEN he refused to do it again...EVER.  Not for me....Not for Emersyn... AND FOR SURE not for daddy.  He would just look at me and smile...clearly enjoying his little game...But for now I will enjoy the silence I guess...because his vocabulary consists of MAMA (belted out at full volume) and Ughh Ughh while pointing to what he wants.  Now you know why meow meow was so exciting..haha!!
Then there is Emersyn...This morning all 4 of us were watching the TODAY show because it was Savanah's first day on the NEW JOB.  They were doing a video montage and a clip with Savanah and Mitt Romney flew by.  Emeryn stopped running around and said.."HEY that looked like Mitt Romney...what is he doing on there????"  HUH???  Todd and I just looked at each other and shrugged.  I asked her later how she knew who Mitt Romney was and she gave me the DUH look and said..."Because he is on the news all the time...they ALWAYS talk about him."  Right...I should have known my 4 year old would be into politics.  Speaking of...She also informed me that she is not sure we should have signed the Declaration of Independance because it might have been more fun to still have a king and not a president...Now to be fair, I had just explained what the Declaration was because she had asked, but still....

SOOO I learned 2 lessons today...
1.  Be careful what you say around kid 2 because he is taking it all in and once he starts talking he is going to spill the beans on me.
AND 2.  Be careful what you say around kid 1 because she is like a super sponge and can recall facts that I am not sure she even fully hears....

I may never speak again just in case....
