THRUSH!!!

SOOOO I mentioned earlier that Emersyn went to sleep at 5:45. Well... she woke back up about 10:45 from what I think she thought was THE BEST NAP EVER!!! She was bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready for some fun. I fed her and we watched Michael Phelps win his 8th gold medal (YAY!!) I had a rough time convincing her that it was actually night night sleepy time. I am currently watching the olympics and listening to her on the monitor. She sounds like she is about to win the olympic gold for soccer, so I am guessing that she is not actually asleep. This could be a long night. We have enjoyed watching the olympics together over the last few days. She really likes to watch the swimming and is bored by gymnastics.
My poor sweet baby girl has thrush, which the doctor explained to me is like a yeast infection in her mouth (YUCK). So she has medicine to take 4 times a day--she is not a big fan. She has been striking this pose a lot over the last few days. I think it means "mommy my mouth hurts!!"

Here she is watching the swimmers. She takes her olympics watching Very serious:)

OK--off the topic. I was watching the women's marathon earlier tonight and it reminded me of the funniest story. If you don't like long stories STOP READING NOW!! When I was in college I was friends with a guy who did triathalons. We worked out together--just kidding:) He had a race in the tri-cities and asked if he could stay at my parents house while he was in town. He was HOT, so I agreed. (Joe Ireland if you are out there in blogger land--You are hot--I admit it!!) ANYWAY...my job to help him in the race was to drive his truck from the starting line to the finish line so that when he got done racing his truck would be waiting there for him. I was also supposed to be his cheering section during the race. I agreed, not realizing that races start super early in the morning. So we went to the race. He swam in the Columbia River, ran for miles and then biked. I am not sure how many miles the whole thing was, but it took hours. I was a bit tired, so I decided to take a quick nap in the truck--who would have noticed ONE person cheering anyway--Right??!! Well my nap went a little long and I missed most of the racing, so I hurried and jumped in the driver's seat to do my duty and realized that his truck was a stick shift. Now those of you who know me well know that I do not know how to drive a manuel--STILL. Needless to say, I didn't know how to do it then either. Now I am sure there are those of you (farm girls) who are asking "how can she not know how to drive a stick shift??" WELL I don't. I take that back. I know HOW, I just can't do it. Something is physically missing from my brain that tells me how to shift, drive, and manage the clutch at the same time. I can't explain why, BUT I CANNOT DO IT!! So I had a horrified few minutes sitting in his truck trying to figure out what to do. WHAT COULD I DO REALLY?? So I started walking. I walked from one end of Columbia Park to the other (no triathalon, but for me quite a trek). Then I sat at the finish line and waited. My friend finished his race and came over to load up his bike in the truck. I explained the situation. Talk about humility--I gained some that day. SOOOOOO after swimming, running and biking for miles, he had to bike a few more--back to his truck. Jessica! Jessica! Jessica!!!

you crack me up!
i was wondering why you were sending me emails so late last night - poor Emersyn!

That was by far one of the funniest stories I've heard in a while. You didn't mention if he came back to pick you up though. Surely he didn't leave you there, did he? You have a cute daughter. And it's too bad the Olympics will be over soon. I stay up with our 4 month old who won't go to sleep at night either. Fun times.
