Bad Parenting Choices!!

Ok--So this story is disturbing and EMBARRASSING, so if you would love to laugh at my expense--keep reading. This happened about a week ago, but there are two reasons why I am posting about it now. 1. I was slightly traumatized and 2. I am really only posting this because Rosie was having a bad day and needed a good laugh and I promised.
So if you work for CPS or know anybody who does, please move onto somebody elses blog for a few days.
Here we go...
So Emersyn and I were out for our morning walk. She had been good the whole time and like a trooper just sat and played with her toys. THEN her worst enemy the hiccups showed up. So she was getting fussy and finally had a meltdown, so I took her out of the stroller. We were just right around the corner from our house, so I started to carry her. She started reaching for the stroller handle, so I decided to let her hold onto it. Just to warn you, this was mistake number one. I sat her on the cup holder part of the stroller and let her feet hang down under the handle. Then she could lean over and hold onto the handle and I could still hold her AND push the stroller. The problem started as she started slipping down under the handle. Of course I did not think of anything at the time though. I must make a note here that we were not on the sidewalk, but instead were driving down the middle of the road because the sprinklers were hitting the sidewalk.

Ok--onto mistake number 2. As we approached our street I tried to pull Emersyn back up so that her bum would be back on the top of the stroller. To my dismay, she could not be pulled. She was slightly wedged between the bar and the stroller. Still not worried, I tried to slide her further down--thinking that she could slide all the way through and I would grab her underneath. BIG MISTAKE!! Had I known the measurements of the opening, I would have realized that her head WOULD NOT fit through such a small hole. Emersyn finally must have realized that something was NOT ok, and began screaming hysterically.
So--let's recap--I am in the middle of the street. My baby is hanging down from the top of the stroller. Basically hanging by her head--except of course I am holding onto her. AND I am not back to my house yet. SO--what can I do??? I have to start pushing the stroller--with the hanging baby--back to my house of course. THEN I had a mental break through--what if I turn her head to the side?? I should have known this would not work, I mean the kid didn't fit out of me--why would she fit out of the stroller?? But I tried. This however did NOT work--it only succeeded in causing her to move from crying to SCREAMING and flailing. I was just imagining that I was going to have to call 911 and have them come and cut my baby out of the stroller (in the middle of the street with all of the neighbors watching). SOOOO what did I do???? I kept pushing on towards our house of course. If the fire truck was coming to cut my kid free of her carseat, they were at least going to do it in the privacy of my own home!!

As I neared my house I decided that if she fit into this opening, she HAD to fit out--RIGHT??? So I decided to try harder before calling for help. SO as I reached my house, I changed strategies--CALL FOR REINFORCEMENTS!!! I pushed her across the street to my neighbor's house (still screaming, still flailing, still stuck). I knocked and my sweet neighbor answered her door. All I could think to say is "I need help." She didn't even ask--she just held the stroller and help to un-wedge Emersyn from the stroller. AS SOON as Emersyn was free, she instantly stopped crying and gave neighbor Julie a big smile. My dear neighbor still did not ask--she just said "ok, have a great day guys." I was so relieved that I came back home, held Emersyn tight for quite a while and had a bit of a cry. So as you can see, everything turned out all right.
BUT--WHO DOES THAT??????
