What have we been up too???

I have been feeling like we have not been doing a darn thing, but then when I cleared off the camara, I realized we have done all sorts of stuff. I might have just forgotten because of the pain meds:)
First off, I had sinus surgery almost 2 weeks ago. It went well. My mommy came and stayed here and took care of Emersyn (and me) and helped out for almost a week. Emersyn is now SPOILED beyond belief and her new favorite words are "me me me" which means mine, please, help, give me....you name it. She also has learned "no no no" which means...well NO!!! My nose is healing up good and I can smell now--pretty exciting. It has been about 4 or 5 years since I could smell and it has been a BIG change. I LOVE my scentsy and HATE changing diapers.
What else have we been doing????
Em is still cute!!!

She LOVES her books. She unloads them, carries them around, brings them to me to read, and sometimes (which is the cutest) she sits down and reads herself stories. SHE IS SOOOOOO my kid sometimes.

We also got a much needed visit by Amy and Delaney. I had not been out of the house and Emersyn and I were both in need of some Friend Time!!!

Her is Emersyn in her "cape." She is Underwear Girl!!! She loves to try to dress herself. She either digs in the dirty clothes basket or her drawers and comes out with all sorts of stuff over her head--usually underwear or tank tops:) She is pretty proud of herself and always asks if she is "Petty?" (pretty).

Todd talked us into going to the Playground of dreams. It was a little overwhelming because about 1 million YMCA kids were there, but Em had a good time.

She braved the slide ALL BY HERSELF for the first time. I was a little sad that she could climb up the steps, sit down and go down Without me!!! What does she need me for now????

Her favorite part of the park was the all you can eat wood chip buffet.

After lunch--and chasing the poor seagulls--she braved the water part of the park. She was not TOO sure about all of the shooting water, but she did pretty good.

Did I mention that my kid likes to dress herself??? She will spend hours in her room unloading her drawers and trying to put things on. I would love to not have to fold her clothes and put them back 3 times a day, but she stays busy for HOURS---sometimes it is worth the cleanup. I pick my battles, and when she is happy and not on me for long periods of time---I am happy:)

My little Creet Man is a soccer player. We went to Creete's first soccer game and he scored 2 goals--Not that we were keeping score:) He got bored really fast though and spent lots of time doing somersaults and cartwheels while the other kids played soccer. You just gotta love a kid who cartwheels down the field in the opposite direction of the ball.

Em thought the game was pretty boring and preferred coloring with Grandma Judy. Coloring is Emersyn's other favorite pass time. She loves her color books and spends lots of time coloring--and eating the heads off of all of the crayons. Then she complains cause the crayons have no heads--irony!!

I did A LOT of crafting while I was healing. I appliqued some of the birds on my Birdie quilt. It was my first machine applique and I was pretty proud of myself. I still have lots of birds to go though--sigh.

I also started a new quilt. This one is kinda a manly camping quilt. It is trees and outdoorsy stuff.

So far I have some trees and the blocks--still a work in progress.

This is the pattern, so hopefully it looks like this soon.

I also made a raggy quilt. It is my first one and I LOVED it. After I finished it I was very tempted to keep it (it totally matches my bedroom), but I gave it away as a wedding gift. I still kinda miss it:(

I also cut out 2 tablerunner projects and 2 quilt projects--updates to come on those soon.
And what was Emersyn doing while I was crafting????? Playing dress up of course. Look at that happy face. How can I get mad at that???

We recently had our first kid emergency. I was more traumatized than Emersyn, but we are both doing fine now. So what happened.....She put her finger into the middle of a burning hot chicken nugget. I know it sounds harmless, but it was not. I was right there sitting with her and blowing on her food. She was eating some other stuff and without my knowing it, she reached over and stuck her finger into the chicken nugget. She screamed bloody murder, but it took a while for me to figure out what the problem was. She got severe 2nd degree burns around her index finger. It blistered up to about the size of a small grape and she had to sit with her hand in a glass of ice water all night. She was one sad little girl and I was a slightly hysterical crying wreck. I felt horrible for her. The next morning she ended up chewing the blister open (I know---gross) and so after trying everything to keep it bandaged, the doctors resorted to this....

She is like Houdini baby, so they had to tape her whole hand--otherwise she got the bandages off in seconds. She will be sporting the big wrap until tomorrow morning. Then she is going back in to the doctor. They said they will wrap it again and want it to stay until Monday. Then they will check it again and we will go from there.

She gets around pretty good with her little nub and has figured out new ways to do everything she wants. They are a little concerned about the scarring and there is a possibility that she will not have full movement in that finger, but they said that with therapy she should be fine. I think I need mental therapy too because I feel so bad for her.
SOOOO that has been the excitement around here. Like I said, my nose is doing well. I go once a week and they suck it out with a little vacuum like thingy--not so fun. It is amazing how clear my sinuses feel and I am pretty much pain free most of the time. In another month I think I will have normal sinus--which is pretty good cause the doctor told me mine were the worst he had ever seen--and I don't think that was a compliment:)
I am headed for day 3 of cheer camp tomorrow and Todd is taking Emersyn to the doctor. I will let you know how we all turn out.
