Ok, so I realize that our trip to Seaside was last month, but I just have not had the energy or desire to jump into all of the blogging and downloading and so forth. But here goes. Emersyn was pooped just from packing and didn't even make it through lunch. We were shopping and packing and loading, and she just put her head down and called it a day (which is so NOT how Em falls asleep). We headed down the first night as far as Portland. We got a hotel there with Amy and Ryan and then got an early start at the Portland Zoo. It was a great day for the girls. Em loved the monkeys the best and was also pretty impressed by the elephants, sea lions, and hippo. The biggest hit of the day though--the petting zoo farm. I took her all the way to the zoo to see the farm animals--go figure!!
Em and Laney enjoying a leisurely ride on the fake ponies--another big hit of the Portland zoo:) Even though Emersyn got to pet a goat, a sheep, and who knows what else, she really liked the soft beautiful mane of the fake pony--that's my kid.
The girls loved the zoo, but the boys had maybe the best time of all. They went from 25 to 5 in like 2 hours. Here they are with the s-c-a-r-y bears--Grrrrr.
It was great for Amy and I to have some help with the girls. They could get out of the stollers WITHOUT screaming, running, and chasing--SO NICE.
Next, we left Portland and headed to Seaside. What an amazing town. Usually we go to Lincoln City, or around there, but we LOVED Seaside. We did all of the normal ocean activities, starting with the Aquarium. We fed the seals and it was soooo cute. Other than that, Emersyn really was not so in to looking at the fish. She did however LOVE the coloring area. She colored many beautiful pictures of the jelly fishes:)
My other kiddo couldn't let her do a better picture of course, so he also did his "thang" and made a beautiful Seal. Other than that Emersyn freaked me out by touching the fish and stuff in the touch tank. I was so afraid that she was going to rip or kill something, so we mostly stuck to coloring and running around--maybe more fish touching next year.
Seaside was a great beach. Usually the beach is empty and deserted where we go, but this beach was CRAZY. AND the weather was SOOO nice. We got to walk around the town and enjoy the sights and NOT freeze--it was very un-oceany--I loved it. But seriously I have not seen a beach like this except on television--It was like CSI Oregon there:)

Very cute pics. That 1st pic of her asleep in her high chair is what she looked like here Sunday at lunch...lol She is such a doll!
Wow! Your summer trip sounds a lot like ours! We went to a lot of the same places. Very familiar with the ostrich in the sand look. Don't know why 1 year olds like that.
