Yesterday we FINALLY managed to get out of the house and headed to Hermiston. Emersyn and Delaney were having withdrawals and I needed a little chatty time with Amy. Em and Laney (as usual) managed to fight (mostly Em hitting her) and play and exchanged Christmas presents. Em got this Princess tent and we set it up at their house. Amy was worried that Emersyn didn't like it because they didn't hang out in there much. I told her--just wait till we get home--I GUARANTEE that she will have her dad in there before the night is over. AS USUAL--I was right.
I set the tent up and within minutes I heard Em and her dad "hiding" in the tent. Thanks Amy--Just watching them in there was merry Christmas enough:)
This past week was our ward Christmas party. So we got Emersyn all dressed up and headed out there to see Santa. Em has been talking about Santa for weeks. She wants to watch Elmo Santa. She tells me about Santa. Looks at pictures of Santa AND watched Santa movies.
So I thought this year would be NO problem with her sitting on Santa's lap.
WRONG!!! She freaked out and wouldn't even get close to Santa. Maybe one of these years I will get a cute Santa picture--but NOT this year.
Like I said before, Em has been entertaining herself while I sew. Her new favorite game is washing her hands. She wants to wash them 15 times a day at least. She pulls the chair up to the sink and yells HANDS HANDS HANDS. Then she plays in the water for as long as I can handle it--I think she would play in the water for an hour if I let her. The other day I came wandering out of the sewing room to find this...
She was pretty darn impressed with herself too. The bowl was full to the top AND balanced between the two sinks. That is talent!!!
She also enjoyed the two days that I had quilts on the quilting frames. She wanted her snacks under there, her crayons, her toys. I could go under there and visit her, but she didn't wanna come out. The best part of the day...when she could be under the quilt AND Seseme Street came on--what a life:)
Speaking of quilting...I have finished a few more projects. This quilt is for Todd's dad and his family. They grow cherries--get the irony?? When I brought this quilt out to show Todd he said "Hey you should make one like that for my dad." BOYS...I wanted to throw it at him. I had only been working on it for a month...and I think he thought I would just whip up another one really fast.
This blanket was no easy task for me. The cherries are all machine appliqued and the stems are made of mini black ric-rack. The braided borders offered another learning experience. They turned out cute, but at times I thought I would never make it work.
The pattern was called Cherry Oh and was from a quilting magazine--can't remember which one. The fabric is Recipe for Friendship--Mary Engelbreit.

I love love love the cherries! I'm "sew" impressed!! Sorry I missed you yesterday. I'll try again another day.
I so agree! Christmas just needs to be here so we will HAVE to stop shopping/creating/baking, whatever it might be! I LOVE the cherry blankie, I bet Todd was pleased with his brilliant wife on that one!
