Remember when we were still on vacation....yea like a month ago???? Well, I am still trying to catch up on life and this darn blog. I print my blog into a book at the end of the year, so I guess I still have a few months to get my life together.
SOOO back to our days of fun. We had ONE MORE DAY in San Francisco before heading back out on the open waters. I had it in my head that Ethan would really like the zoo, so I would not give up on Todd to get us to the zoo...even though it looked to be farther from the ship than I had thought. We ended up taking a cab (which cost us like 40 bucks) and Ethan cried and screamed the WHOLE way and I got SUPER carsick and thought I was going to puke on our Nascar Driver/cab driver.
Anyway...my favorites were the zebras...they were playing and running around. I LOVE THOSE STRIPES.
This awesome rainbow butt baboon was my favorite until he started to give Ethan the stink eye. He seriously started stalking my little cutie...I guess noisy little boys are not super simpatico with angry baboons...who knew??
Then I decided that the flamingos were my favorites...heck with the zebras!!! Who can resist a PINK animal??
Emersyn is always such a good sport.
Our favorite part of the zoo was the petting zoo portion. We got to see farm animals up close and pet some of them. YES my sone is wearing a leash. NO I am not proud of it. YES it was a good idea and kept him from the grasp of death MANY times!!!
Hands down Ethan's favorite part of the day was sweeping the dirt. If you know Ethan, you KNOW that the boy LOVES to clean. Sweeping mostly, but he also likes hoes, shovels, rakes, and dusters.
He saw these rakes and TOOK OFF RUNNING for them. Who would have thought that he would have LOVED cleaning up after the farm animals:)
I love that Emersyn will not pet our cat or go ANYWHERE close to most dogs, but she WILL brush a strange goat. Crazy Girl!!!
We parked our stroller RIGHT next to this sign and even laughed about it. Then when we came back to the stroller we had 2 or 3 little squirrels peaking out of our diaper bag...each with a bag of fruit snacks in their mouth. I guess they were not lying. Emersyn chased those squirrels into the bushes yelling..".HEY you naughty squirrels...you bring back my fruit snacks!!!" Too funny!!
I am an animal JUNKIE...I LOVE looking at the animals, learning about them, watching them play. I SUPER loved watching the HUGE bears. They MIGHT have been my real favorites:)
SOOO we did have some good times at the zoo...after the anger/sickness/cold subsided...but we still had ONE big problem. We had to get back to the ship. NO WAY was Todd spending another 40 bucks to get a driver to take us back (although we found out cabs would come out that far to get us anway). SOOOO we attempted to be metropolitan. We went to the bus stop, got on a bus, and rode the Metro. The poor kids were so tired that they each curled up on one of my legs and crashed out. Todd and I were so NOT SURE about what we were doing that we just watched and waited. Looking back....driving in a super fast underground tunnel on a super fast underground bus SEEMS pretty cool. At the time though it was kinda scary. BUT since it only cost us $2.00 for all of us to drive ALL THE WAY BACK...I guess it was a good experience. Although our next bus was actually a trolley I was TOO tired to enjoy it. BUMMER...I didn't even get to sing the San Francisco treat song!!!
Phew. I guess I can admit that going to the zoo was probably NOT one of my best ideas....next time I will know!! BUT our day was not over yet, we still had our passes for the aquarium. SOOOO although we were not in the best of moods...we headed to see some fishes.
When we got there we were forced into getting our picture taken. We were all tired and cranky and Todd and I were not even speaking to each other...kinda awkward:) BUT....Emersyn was IN LOVE with touch tanks. Ethan wanted to GET IN the touch tanks. And Todd loved the sharks!!! All in all it was a success.
I guess the fishes are JUST what we needed to cheer us up!!!
San Francisco was a GREAT place, but we were READY for some WARMER weather!!!
