15 months and counting...

SOOOOO my baby is 15 months old. Actually on the 28th, but I was on the way home from the Ocean and did not remember until her doctor appointment yesterday.
She was 33 1/2 inches long (99%)

21.13 pounds (34%)

46.2 cm around her head (60%)
So she is officially TALL and Skinny!!! Not undernourished, just skinny. I always thought I would have a short fat baby, but she runs around too much to keep any weight on. You would think that since I chase her around that I would lose a few pounds too, I guess we will work on that one:) Dr. Julie also said that Em is VERY active for her age (like I did not know that) and has great verbal and communication skills (I think she gets that from me:)).

Anyway....here is a little more about the last 15 months around the Perkins' house....

Speaking of active---even before making her debut Emersyn was running around--or swimming if you wanna get technical. Sometimes my students looked at me like my body had been invaded by aliens--it would be shifting from side to side or it would like like Emersyn was trying to claw her way out---creepy for a 16 year old:) They got so used to her foot sticking out of my belly that they could even tell a hand from a foot--seriously my classroom turned into a health class for a few months. You would think with all of the activity she was getting in there she would have worked off some of her baby fat----no way--my 10 pound baby came out strong and ready to roll!!!

For a few months she was forced to lay around and be cuddled, but she always had that little gleam in her eye. Like "hold me while you can because soon I will be faster than you."

Em has many things that she LOVES. One of them is unpacking. She loves taking everything out of a drawer or closet. Especially the pantry. Recently she has loved taking the dvds out of the shelf. This is what she was busy doing while I packed to go to Seaside. She "unpacked" faster than I could pack.

She also LOVES meal time. She likes to be in her high chair and she just truly loves eating. I think she must be Italian. She loves digging in and getting messy and is never as happy as she is while she eats. She takes it very seriously. She is just starting to get the hang of her spoon, but still opts for hands on eating. She eats A LOT and is ALWAYS messy afterwords.

She Loves swimming and even though her swim lessons are over, she keeps practicing blowing bubbles and kick kicking her legs.
Juice--It is like a baby big gulp. She does not get it too often and I try to water it down, but when she gets the real thing, watch out. We try to save these juice packs for falls and big accidents--they are an instant cry stopper:)
Crayons, but not coloring. Em doesn't love actually coloring (except on the walls of our hotel in Oregon), but she LOVES her crayons. She dumps them out, picks them all up, and then puts them back in the box. Then it all starts over again. This game can keep her occupied for at least 30 minutes at a time. It is her new favorite during sacrament meeting--it keeps her quiet--I know it is unbelievable.
This picture combines two favorites...bananas and the hose. In this case she is watering her banana--go figure. She also likes to water the flowers, the sidewalk, my feet, and the cat.
Climbing like a monkey. She enjoys climbing on chairs, couches, the kitchen table, beds, you name it. Nothing is off limits anymore. And she just looks so proud of herself when she gets up there!!!
Books. The only thing that can stop Em in her tracks is book time. She loves reading books. She also loves unpacking the books from her shelf--but not packing them back. You see the pattern--imagine what my poor house looks like by evening.
Lotion. Em should have the softest skin of any baby in the state based on the amount of lotion she puts on. She doesn't throw many fits, but a closed lotion bottle can cause kicking, screaming, and crying. The problem is that she also likes to lick the lotion off--we are still working on "rub, rub, rub."
Stickers. They are little instant badges of happiness. I even carry them in my purse for grocery shopping trips and road trips. They often get eaten, but not until after they have been stuck to all blank surfaces.
Laney. Emersyn loves herself some Laney. At the ocean she would wake up (in my bed) and sit straight up and yell "Nayney." Then she would try to get off the bed and out the door to check and make sure Laney was still out there. They did not play together much, or share their toys very well, but they just liked having the other one around. They even had some pretty good fights---I guess that is how it is with your real girlfriends--right. She was a very sad baby when she woke up Wednesday (in her own bed) and found that there was no Nayney.
That is a lot of love for one little girlie--and that is just this week. She still loves Elmo and watching movies--I don't think Elmo is ever going away:) She has been so much fun this year and is growing up so darn fast. We were watching videos from the ocean and then watched her birth video and some of her baby videos. It almost made me want to have another one. And that thought has not come out of my body in 15 months--Trust me. I guess it is my baby momma clock ticking and reminding me that if I don't get going I will be dropping kid number 2 off at kindergarten on my way to drop kid number 1 off at college. We shall see I guess...

sorry Jess - I know this will cause you to shiver - but I had to do a double take at the ultrasound pic and check the date. Then I remembered Em's power fist. :) I can't believe she's 15 months. It seems like not so long ago, the cheerleaders were teasing you about being pregnant and you were! :) Miss you! Glad you had fun at the ocean!
