Getting Better---day 3

I think the worst of our time over here may be over.  It seems that things are really looking up.  Ethan woke up smiling this morning.  His eye was much less swolen and as the day went along he could open both eyes.  He was still VERY angry when he got moved, but was happy throughout the day at times.

He got some good play time in today.  We even got a giggle out of him.  It is hard sometimes because when you look at him he almost looks like a different kid.  But then he smiles and he is MY ETHAN again.

Poor guy is still pretty tired at times.  He was soo pooped out that he even fell asleep while he was playing.  Right in mid-play he just gave up.  So cute.  Speaking of POOPED.  The poor little guy pretty much exploded today. They were worried about constipation from his meds, so they decided on a supository.  Poor nurse put it in and INSTANTLY he decided it was time.  Right on her.  That is a boy for ya.  Then there was no stopping it.  His dad and I were changing another one later on and he decided he was not done yet again.  Poor Todd got the brunt of that one!!!  That is what he gets for sleeping in a REAL bed at night while I bunk up at the hospital=)

They came and took his drain tube out today.   So that is a good sign.  He is healing up pretty quickly and they even said it was a possibility that he could possibly be ready to go home tomorrow.  I am not all for that idea.
One by one his wires are getting un-plugged and removed.  He is getting more freedom.  And I can take him out of the crib when I want.  Although he screams when I do, so that is not easy either.  It is nice to sit and rock him and cuddle.  I think we are BOTH missing our cuddle time.  I cannot wait until I can pick him up without causing him to cry in pain.  Baby Steps!!
Now that his eyes are both open you can get a better idea of his "new look."  His head is for sure rounder.  He can even lay flat on his back with his head facing straight up.  Something he was never able to do before. He used to have to lay on the side of his head in an unomfortable position.

It was sooo good to see him smile again tonight.  He is slowly getting back to being the sweet little Ethan that we know and love.  Soon we will be home and this will all be just a distant memory that we would ALL love to forget.
