Well after a day off for mutual and a late night grocery shopping adventure, I got back on track yesterday and did some sewing. This one was not even on my to-do list. Yesterday the kids and I went to the Pasco library...which led to taking a little side trip to Goodwill...which led to me thinking this skirt was cute...which led to Emersyn wanting me to buy it for her....which led to me agreeing to sew her a beautiful dress.
It was just a regular women's skirt with a side zipper, but the flowers are all embroidered and cute, so I thought I would give it a shot. I knew what to do for the dress part, but went to Pinterest in search of strap ideas. I found THIS and THIS tutorial...but it was not exactly what I had in mind. So we got out some ribbon and went to town.
Here is the finished product in a late night camera phone shot....the coloring is a little off, but you get the idea. My favorite part is the flower. I just scrunched up some fabric and sewed some lace around it. Then I found a button from my Grandma June's vintage stash and safety pinned it right on. SOOO for $3.00 Emersyn got a "brand new" dress that is fancy enough to make her happy, and UN fancy enough for me not to worry about what she is going to do to it. WIN WIN!!!
