Ethan helped me model it:) This quilt was made for A PINK NIGHT TO REMEMBER...a benefit auction which raises money to help fight breast cancer. This is the 3rd year in a row that I have donated a quilt and helped to earn a little money for a good cause.
Here is a reminder of what Ethan USED to look like...haha! Look at that head....I think I forgot how much he has changed.
I backed this badboy in dark blue flannel. I was so yummy and soft. I was a bit attached to this one...making those butterflies was not easy...but it earned over 500 bucks to help fight cancer, so a little hard work was WORTH the pay off!!!
My next quilting project was a QUICK quilt. I (like always) waited until the last minute to finish (and start) a quilt for my neice Madison for graduation.
I had the fabric picked out and purchased, but did all of the cutting, sewing, and quilting during the week of graduation...PHEW!!! The pattern was Piece Of Cake--by Camille and I LOVED IT!!! It came together super quickly and yet looked so clean and modern. The fabric was Riley Blake's VERONA. I lusted after this collection for a while and STILL want to use it for my OWN quilt. My favorite is the dots...I LOVE dots. I HAD TO HAVE dots for the binding...HAD TO!!!
I did something a little different with the quilting...if you can even see it. I quilted on the diagonal every 2.5 inches and 6 inches. This made little diamonds and big diamonds...I liked the little bit of extra it added.
I added some dots to the backing...I also LOVE the paisley...so pretty!!
This was my FIRST time adding a tag to my quilts...I know I should be doing this EVERY time, but I always forget!!!
I have found a new love...re-usable grocery bags. I found this one at Wal-Mart for 3 bucks. I used it as a gift bag (it was a dollar cheaper than the paper ones), and think it looked SUPER cute.
PLUS she can use it as a cute tote now. I will NEVER buy gift bags again!!!
Going to graduation was like going back in time. I remember just yesterday (or 14 years ago) when me and Fran sped our way to gradation in the Bronco while doing our hair and jamming out. When did we grow up??? OHHHHh maybe we didn't :)
I hope Madison had as much fun as we did at our graduation!!! Way to go Class of 2012!!
Ok...moving on. I also whipped up a few pillowcases for graduation gifts. I thought they would be fun to take off to college. I CLEARLY had 3 VERY different people in mind here. A girl, a baby, and a Purkeypyle...haha!!
My cousin Austin got the manly LODGE-EY one, Todd's cousin Christina got the super cute pink elephant one, and Little Sonny got the construction one for his BIG NUMBER 1 BIRTHDAY!!
I REALLY wanted to keep this for Ethan...but decided not to be a JERK. But I was ALMOST a JERK!!!
And by the way...how cute are the elephants???? LOVE THEM!!!
Phew...for not a lot of projects I sure had a lot of pictures huh??? I actually have a couple more little finished projects...so stay tuned!
