K is for Australia!!

We have not had much excitement this week. Emersyn has gone back to her bad sleeping habits, so we spend a lot of time vegging out during the day. I have no idea what is causing her current bout of insomnia, but I hope it ends soon. After a week of getting a little sleep I got pretty spoiled!!! Now I am a bit of a zombie again.
Creete came to visit on Thursday so I could go to the dentist. Poor kid wants to be the baby of the family so badly:)

I had a hard time choosing something that I LOVE that starts with K. Then I remembered two of my favorite animals--Koalas and Kangaroos. Since they both happen to live in a place that happens to require the MOST expensive plane tickets to travel too, I am guessing I will never get to really see them--maybe in the zoo. Even as a little girl I loved Koalas. I had a stuffed baby and mama and thought they would be a great pet to have. I have since learned that their claws are super sharp and they can be quite dangerous, but hey if the crazy chimp lady can have a "face-ripping" animal, I guess I can dream of having one too.

I also chose Kangaroos. They are not as cute, but they are so cool. They seem to be such good mothers and I have always thought their little pouch was very convenient. I mean how cool to have a built in baby carrier.

I have been disturbed for a while watching these sweet animals on the news because of the huge bush fires in Australia. I have been so angry that somebody would start a fire that would have such horrible effects on sooooo many animals. WHY START A FOREST FIRE?? It just makes me want to light THEM on fire and see how they like it.

I am sure everybody saw this story on the news, but it really hit me. I cried every time they showed this video on the Today show. This poor little Koala had burned hands and feet from the fires and this sweet fire fighter gave it a bottle of water to help keep it alive. He was so calm becuase he was starving and thirsty and hurt. It makes me wanna cry just thinking about it.

Here is the sweet little guy after getting medical attention. Doesn't he seem to be smiling now that he has new feet:)

I do not know this little guy's story, but he was too cute to pass up. He obviously got burned too, and was enjoying a nice bath to help recuperate.

Here are some more horrible pictures of the animals who suffered through the fire. Can you imagine being the person responsible for setting such a devastating fire???

This poor little cockatoo broke my heart. I told Todd that I wanted to bring him home and name him "Pretty Bird" and call him "pretty bird" all day so that he would not know how ugly he was without all of his feathers.
I know I am a little too soft hearted when it comes to animals, but this fire really got under my skin!!! Have a great weekend everybody.

I am a softy for animals too. I tear up all of the time when I think Rooney gets his feelings hurt. I had to go to a clients house and saw that their dogs where in kennels and I teared up. They had all of these poor horses on the news that were being starved to death and I wanted to adopt all of them. I am a big time cry baby when people hurt animals too. Breaks my heart.
But to be really ironic we showed pigs that we new where headed straight to death! Wierd!

That picture of the man giving the koala broke my heart. It looks like something out of a movie. And i like the one in the tub. he looks all relaxed and chillin. My type of koala!

The kids have been watching Dumb and Dumber-I know I'm a bad Mom- Anyways they have memorized the show word for word. If I hear "pretty bird" again......:)
