Today started off a bit disappointing. We were in hopes that Ethan would wake up and the swelling would magically be gone. BUT it was not to be. Our roomate was a boy who was EXACTLY Ethan's age and who had had the same surgery, and he went home on FRIDAY. So to wake up and see that we were not going home today was NO BUENO!! He no longer had an IV--they took that out on Friday (actually tecnically Ethan removed it), he had no wires, no monitors, NOTHING!! He is REALLY just hanging out here waiting for his eyes to open. The nurses come and visit every 4 hours or so to give him pain medicine, but other than that we are on our own. Anyway...long story short...Ethan's eyes were still swollen shut today and we had to hang out in the hospital.
Ethan was still requesting walks every 5 minutes, so Todd and I went in search of a stroller. He pretty much spent 11.5 of the 12 hours today in the stroller going UP and DOWN the same old hallways.
He even took a short nap in there. It was pretty nice to have my lap free for a few minutes:)
Tonight though...ETHAN GOT AN UPGRADE!!!
He is now sporting an AWESOME yellow taxi cab!!! He is also the proud owner of ONE parlty opened eye. He has a small slit open on the bottom of one eye. Now that he can see he is unstoppable. He wants to ride up the halls, touch all of the murals (because he didn't know they were there until now), flirt with all of the nurses, walk/run away, climb on things...you name it. He is like a little mini bald tornado tonight!!
BUT he is SUPER enjoying himself!!! He is laughing and smiling up a storm. AND each time we go by a nurses desk they have to OOOO and AHHHH over him now that his eye is open....he is a chic magnent in that yellow car!!
I FINALLY got him to park the car and tell it NIGH NIGH, but only after taking a parking break which included graham crackers. SOOO for all of you who have been worrying about Ethan...I think you can stop now. Doesn't he seem PRETTY COMFORTABLE???:)

He is so cute in his car! I'm sure he has every one of the nurses wrapped around his little finger. :) I'm so glad to see him doing so well (what a tough little guy!!!), and I hope you guys get to come home soon. Thanks for the updates!
What a little sweetheart. It's so neat how happy he is and he can't even see good. Children are much more forgiving and adaptable. We are praying for his return home soon.
